Slatwall Panels – UK Sourced at Low Prices

Slatwall Panels

Shelving Megastore are delighted to offer top quality slatwall panels. Our slatwall panels are top quality and sourced in the UK so you can be sure they will last. Our range of finishes is second to none and can be supplied with or without slatwall inserts.

Slatwall panels are an extremely popular method of retail display.  It consists of mdf panels with slots spaced 100mm apart.  The slatwall panels are 2400mm x 1200mm and can be supplied as portrait or landscape orientation.  To reduce transport costs slatwall boards are often cut down the centre slot to create half boards.  The cut is completely hidden when the panel is attached to the wall and inserts are used.  Not all slatwall is the same in terms of quality, there are  panels available on the UK market that have a poor quality finish applied and these should be avoided if the life of the panel is important.

Slatwall inserts are normally fitted into the slatwall panel slots, these increase the strength and weight loading as well as improve the overall appearance of the slatwall display.  Slatwall inserts are made of either plastic or for higher strength Aluminium.

Below are some images of slatwall panels with and without inserts.

All our standard slatwall accessories can be used with our slatwall panels to create retail displays for almost any product imagineable. Additionally the large range of slatwall board finishes and insert colours available means you can achieve an almost unlimited number of themes and styles.

Our UK sourced slatwall panels are 18mm melamine faced MDF (medium density fibreboard). The high quality melamine finish is highly resistant to scratches and dirt, unlike most inferior Far Eastern sourced boards.

Shop Shelving Shelves – All you need and more!

Shop Shelving Shelves

There is not much to shelves in general, they just sit there and quietly do their job holding stuff, probably not even noticed most of the time.  Shop shelving shelves in particular are rarely noticed by the customer popping in for a loaf of bread and a jar of coffee.  That’s the way its meant to be, the products on the shop shelving shelves should be the focus.  For this reason most shop shelves are a neutral RAL9001 cream colour.

However dig a bit deeper and there is a bit more to the average shop shelf than meets the eye.  First of all lets see how shop shelving is manufactured. The video below shows the process of making metal shop shelves starting with a flat sheet of steel.  Firstly the front and back edges and grooves are formed on an automated roller.  Then the side edges are formed and finally stiffening bars are welded underneath (more about these later). After this the shelves are surface treated and powder coated before packing.

So you may ask why are the shop shelving shelves not just flat pieces of steel, what are all these grooves, lips and bars for?  In most shops the price of the products are displayed on the shelf by using a plastic epos strip or ticket strip.  The front lip of the shelf is formed at an angle specifically to hold the epos strip which in turn holds the price label.  But what about the shelf grooves I hear you say, well sometimes retailers want to tilt the shop  shelving shelves forward to display the products better.  They need to stop everything sliding off the shelf so they use shelf risers along the front of the shelf to achieve this.  Shelving risers can be made of many materials but the most common are plastic, acrylic or wire.  In most shop shelving systems the risers just sit in a groove at the front of the shelf which holds them securely in place.  Sometimes risers are used when the shelf is in the normal flat position too, to prevent product spillage.

The next step is to actually divide the shelf surface up into smaller sections, called binning. A very common example of this is with chocolate and confectionery where the different items are separated in neat rows.  To achieve this shelf dividers are used and this is where the other shelf groove comes into play.  Some types of divider have a prong that will locate in the rear groove and then the front of the divider will clip over the front shelf riser.  Another common riser and divider system uses risers that are “toothed”, small grooves in them.  If these plastic toothed risers are slotted in the front and rear shelf grooves then plastic shelf dividers can be slotted between the teeth to divide the shelf.  See the pictures below of the two most common types of shop shelving risers and dividers.

Lets move onto the shelf strengtheners, these are self explanatory they stiffen the shelf and provide the load capacity.  Normally the number of shelf strengtheners increases with the depth of the shelf.  Shallow shop shelving shelves may have only 1 strengthener, whilst a deep shelf may have 3 or 4.  The quantity of stiffeners used is often the first thing to be reduced when trying to make shop shelves cheaper. At Shelving Megastore we do not do this, but some lighter duty shop shelving systems do so beware.

Slatwall Accessories

Shelving Megastore are proud to offer an extensive range of slatwall fittings at low trade prices.  In order to offer such low prices we only sell in bulk packs with free mainland UK delivery.  The extensive range of slatwall accessories include:

  • Single prong and double slatwall hooks
  • Slatwall shelf brackets for glass and wood shelves
  • Waterfall arms
  • D Bars and garment rails
  • Notched bars and arms
  • Slatwall straight arms
  • Slatwall wire mesh shelves
  • Slatwall wire baskets
  • Slatwall ball holders and millinery arms
  • Slatwall specialised arms for ties, jewellery or pictures

Slatwall is a very popular and economical system for retail displays.  The wide range of fittings available make it possible to display almost any product from clothing and shoes to gifts, electronics and toys.  We currently dont sell Slatwall boards but plan to do so shortly.  However we sell an extensive range of slatwall gondolas.  Additionally we offer shop shelving with metal slat wall back panels.  If you are buying Slatwall boards we recommend that you buy the half boards (4′ x 4′). They are much easier to handle than the full size boards.  As the join between the boards is made in a slatted part it is normally covered by a slatwall insert making the join impossibel to see.  The half size boards are also alot cheaper delivery saving you money.  We also plan to sell slatwall inserts soon, these will include plastic inserts in a range of colours and hard wearing aluminium inserts.

If you require a large quantity of Slatwall fittings please contact us for even larger discounts.  Otherwise please browse through our slatwall accessories section, if you cant find the fitting you require we will be able to source it for you.

Finance and Leasing Options for Shop Equipment and Shelving

Shelving Megastore are pleased to be able to offer a quick and simple way of purchasing your new shop equipment, through our preferred leasing partner, Focus Leasing.

Established in 1994, Focus can offer you a finance solution to suit your needs for any equipment for £1000.00 plus VAT or more.  They cover the whole of the UK and have facilities to suit all of our customers, from start up ventures to PLCs.

Improve Cash Flow

Your new shopfittings can be delivered and operational without the need for capital expenditure.  Have what you need today with no cash outlay.

Retain Credit Lines

Keep existing banking arrangements, credit lines and cash free for uses that are more appropriate.  Our finance facilities cannot be withdrawn like overdraft facilities.  Use cash and bank funding for working capital to maintain a healthy business.

Simplify Budgeting

Payments are fixed throughout the term of the agreement enabling accurate and simple budgeting and forecasting.  Bank facilities are generally related to interest rates, which is fine when they are low but can cripple cash-flow when they increase.

Let the Equipment Pay for Itself

Enable the finance payments to coincide with the benefits of having the new equipment as they start to appear.  You wouldn’t pay all your staff costs up front!  Pay for the shopfittings as you gain the benefits, not before.

 Keep Up to Date

Combat obsolescence problems or requirement changes as the equipment can be supplemented or upgraded at any time in the future.  Have what you really need to do the best job for you, not just what your budget limits you to.

 Simple Approval in Two Ways

First of all leasing may be classed as a revenue item for budget purposes which may make it easier for you to obtain authorisation for the expenditure.  Secondly, our approval process only takes one phone call and an approval is usually provided the same day.

Any leasing figures quoted are subject to credit approval for business users trading for over 3 years only.  We can also offer finance to start up and new businesses – ask us for figures.

If you wish to lease your new shop shelving or shop fittings, apply today in one of the following ways and Focus Leasing will arrange a facility promptly for you.

  1. Email sales@focus-leasing.co.uk
  2. Call Focus Leasing on 01794 525930

INCREASE SALES WITH GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

Twenty years ago, whilst living in Aberdeen, I visited my local jeweller to get a new watch battery fitted. I received a very friendly welcome. When I asked advice about the watch bracelet being slightly too big for my wrist, the jeweller removed a link with no charge for this service. This took only a couple of minutes but I appreciated it tremendously. I went back there repeatedly for the next 20 years to buy jewellery, gifts and for any watch repairs that I needed. I also recommended him to absolutely everybody that I knew. This is an example of how offering great customer service is invaluable to help increase sales for the small retailer.

My local chemist in the village where I live now is another case in point. He offers a gift wrap service for free, lengthy and helpful consultations with the pharmacist, free delivery of prescriptions to the elderly and he and his staff always recommend own brand products when applicable to save the customer money. The result? A thriving and busy local business which is loved by all.

pharmacy-shop-shelving6-300x225

We all remember good service and it has a huge knock-on effect on sales. This is why it is so important for all shops to give great customer service. This will encourage returning customers, build trust and loyalty and inevitably increase sales. Good staff training is also essential, the retailer must be confident that all staff will offer the same consistent level of good customer service.

10 Tips for Great Customer Service

  1. Smile and have good manners, address customers  in an age appropriate manner
  2. Display good product knowledge
  3. Don’t say “I don’t know”, say “I will find out”
  4. Listen carefully, anticipate needs
  5. Take customer to product when asked, rather than just giving directions
  6. Offer a freebie, whether it be a small item or service, it will be remembered
  7. Acknowledge people waiting to be served, call someone to help to ease queues
  8. Don’t judge a book by its cover, every customer deserves the same level of respect
  9. Stay visible and available but don’t breathe down customers’ necks
  10. Remember that you exist only because of your customers

At South West Shopfittings we pride ourselves on our customer service, we try to give the level of service that we would like to receive ourselves. Large or small, every order counts to us. We are always happy to give advice and when it comes to price, quality and availability, we believe that we are second to none.

SLATWALL HOOKS FOR HANGING SHOP DISPLAY

Slatwall hooks are particularly suited to the uniform display of items such as fashion merchandise, clothing, car accessories or gifts. Slat hooks are designed for use with slatboard backed shelving units, which can come in the form of wall units, gondola (double sided) or promo (end) bays.

slatwall-hook-single-45-degree

The simple 45 degree single hook is the most common choice for ease of use. The end of the hook sits at a 45 degree angle to the prong.

slatwall-hook-90deg-large

Slathook single 90 degree

Should there be any issue of security concerns the 90 degree single hook makes it harder to slip the products off. This makes it more difficult for the shoplifter to remove items easily.

slatwall-euro-hook-large

The euro (looped) slathooks have the advantage of being able to use a swinging price label or tag to attach on the end. This means that the price for each product can be displayed on the hook itself.

PEGBOARD HOOKS FOR PERFORATED BACK PANELS

SingleProngPegboardHooks

Single prong peghook for perforated back panel

Hanging shop display on pegboard hooks is the smart choice for many retail products. Bagged items, hand tools, angling accessories, hardware, kitchen utensils and health and beauty products, to name but a few.

The SWSF peghooks come in a bright zinc finish and are available in the following types:

  • Single prong
  • Euro (looped)
  • Direct entry

All of our pegboard accessories are designed for use with metal perforated peg panels which have 25mm hole spacing.

Epos pricing flaps can be attached to both the looped hooks and the direct entry hooks with overarm.

Whether it is for a pound shop or a supermarket, pharmacy or discount store, it is advised that sections of the shop shelving are backed with perforated back panels for pegboard hook display. It is possible to have shop shelving bays with only pegbacks and base shelves. Shop shelving units can be customised to include sections of peg back panels along with plain backs and shelves on the same bay. This enables a wide selection of different products to be displayed on the same unit.

If a shop is small, a pegboard display stand on a shallow base could be the ideal solution for displaying more products. If space is no issue, a deep base shelf can be used for bulky products with hanging space above. Different lengths of pegboard hooks can be selected to suit the size of products to be displayed.
