Shelving End Bays are otherwise known as a promo end bays, they sit at right angles at the end of a gondola shelving run.
End bays are especially suitable for special offers and impulse buys and to encourage extra spend per customer. This is traditionally where shoppers expect to discover sale items or seasonal display or clearance products. The difference between promo end bays and wall shelving is the inclusion of back panels on the rear of the end bay unit to prevent products falling behind it from the gondola shelving and to provide a neat appearance from behind, so it is also suitable for use anywhere that the back of the unit may be visible such as in a window.
The combination of gondola shelving units and end bays form the basis of most retail layouts and make up the traditional supermarket aisles. The promo bays are available in a wide range of configurations, either with upper shelves or with pegboard or slatwall back panels. The length of the promo end bay should be matched with the overall width of the gondola shelving, so an extra shallow gondola should have a 665mm promo bay, shallow gondola should have an 800mm end bay, medium a 1000mm and deep and extra deep a 1250mm end bay.
